Rear infill house extension with full width rising roofline to the garden, home office and garden work room.

Before and after images - site photos, prior to the alterations and extension. The property was cramped in feeling and needed more natural light. The spaces felt cellular and unwelcoming. The large feature fire blocked the view to the garden. The house was transformed with a light and airy infill extension with rising gull wing roof to the garden view.

Located in the commuter town of Fleet, Hampshire, this infill extension was taken further to form a full width rear extension. Side door access was carefully maintained by forming an internal partition running along the inside of the open plan living space.

A side snug was formed in a broken plan form with a division screen that allowed for a structural column to reduce the engineering costs of the project. The kitchen was formed with a long activity leg and a large central island. The utility room was carefully hidden behind an entry door forming part of the long kitchen leg. The family cat was not forgotten and they had their own door within a door fitted to access the utility.

A home office was added within the large garden and a second home office added where the original kitchen was previously located. A feature fire was formed within the division screen. The footprint was carefully extended to form a rising ceiling line to the rear garden. This maximised views and natural light from the garden.
