Here is a case study where the existing house is transformed on ground and first floor levels. The bedrooms were too small and the family bathroom just did not make sense. The house had been altered in the past however old chimney positions still dominated. A solution was found to deliver the client’s wish list. Our dolls house process let’s you evaluate various design options before you commit to technical design and statutory approvals. We are here for you through these later design stages however we know that the more time and energy spent at this intial concept phase will pay dividends as we progress through the design build process.
The architect is working through options with the client and visualising the plan options for the extension and alterations.
The solution being discussed here is to make the most of the available footprint through careful demolition and opening up. However a home also needs a balance of closed and open spaces. If the rear plan was opened completely there would be no privacy balance. Therefore options were explored where the kitchen could be extended with a side extension. Also a new entrance infill porch at the front was created. The ground floor opened up to become a large kitchen with utility and side entrance with a dog wash shower. Additional natural light was added with a rooflight to the side elevation.
Working into the plan proposals, it’s important to step back and review the interior design, the look and feel of the layouts in more detail such as the bathroom and master ensuite. Through review of the interior visuals you can determine if the room sizies are correct in the overall balancing of the floor plan.
Once the architect has laid out the proposed bathroom design, the look and feel can be iterated by trained image models using AI. The modelling can be inaccurate compared to the architect’s proposals however it’s a useful visual guide for clients.
